This week Cedar, a fellow member of the CMA, sent out a challenge: To define content marketing in 120 characters! We took up the challenge and tweeted our response to them, but then thought – let’s do one in 120 words and get everything into a few sentences. You can see our definition below:
Content marketing is the art of saying the right thing, in the right way, to the right people, in the right place, at the right time in your own unique style, to encourage sales of your stuff.
It’s saying it enough times, in enough places, to convince people that you can be trusted.
And once they trust you, it’s doing the thing you said you’d do better than you said you would.
It’s also the science of establishing who the right people are, where they are likely to hang out, what they like to hear about and in what language. Then listening to what they have to say and reacting to it.
Make it fun if you can – life’s short.
Can you define what you do in 120 characters or words? We would love to get to know you better!
