The Challenge

To give new products wider appeal

Spirit of Harrogate Ltd had taken note of the increased popularity of ready-to-serve, premixed drinks, in particular Hard Seltzers. This mix of alcohol, carbonated water and fruit flavourings was already a big hit with a younger and more health-conscious demographic than that targeted by Slingsby Gin. To tap into this ‘mindful drinking’ trend, Spirit of Harrogate Ltd created their new Slingsby Solo ready-to-serve flavoured gins and tonics plus Slingsby Gin Spritz, a range of low alcohol, low calorie and vegan-friendly premixed gins with a choice of fruit flavour profiles. Having worked with the fabl for several years, they turned to us to design the packaging for these exciting new product ranges.

The Results

A perfect mix of classic and contemporary

We were briefed to maintain the sense of sophistication current Slingsby Gin consumers were familiar with, yet to produce packaging design work which would also appeal to a wider demographic, in particular millennials and Gen Z. Our designers developed a refined illustrative style featuring gin-related botanicals which perfectly complements the classic, recognisable Slingsby logo. This design was then translated across several colour schemes to differentiate the flavour profile of the can or bottle contents. The overarching result was a packaging design which met our client’s need for a modern, contemporary feel without alienating an already loyal brand customer base.
